Originally Mudita had 2 dark, small rooms, a kitchen and a dining room. The idea to open up the space and get more light was solved by removing the entire wall between them, including the defunct fireplace and chimney. New oak flooring was installed that very closely matches the old, and new windows and lighting were added. A local cabinetmaker made stunning maple cabinets for her and a local concrete shop made the great shaped concrete bartop with bits of abalone imbedded in it. Honed Caesarstone was used as the main countertop, and the backsplash consists of yellow glass subway tiles. The window coverings are duettes. Two walls were painted pale yellow, and the others a gorgeous orange, with white ceilings and trim.
